BMW has wowed visitors to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas with the debut of its new iX3 model, featuring an AI-powered Intelligent Personal Assistant enhanced with Amazon Alexa+ technology. For the first time, passengers can interact with the vehicle in natural dialogue, asking multiple questions in a single sentence — covering both vehicle functions and general knowledge topics. The integration leverages Large Language Model AI, expanding BMW’s software-defined vehicle ecosystem.

Stephan Durach, BMW Group Senior VP Development, Digital Services, Infotainment, Connected Company, says: “Our partnership with Amazon is based on a shared vision of technological excellence. With the addition of Amazon’s Alexa+ technology, the vehicle becomes an intelligent companion for its users.”

The iX3 also highlights BMW Operating System X, supporting streaming, gaming, and video calls while stationary, including Disney+, TiVo Video App, YouTube Music, Zoom, and AirConsole gaming. Passengers can play titles such as UNO Car Party! or Hot Wheels: Xtreme Overdrive using smartphones or conventional Bluetooth controllers.

Under the bonnet, the iX3 features sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology with dual electric motors and an 800V high-voltage battery, enabling long-range driving with fast charging and full bidirectional charging functionality for Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G).

Driving dynamics are enhanced by the Heart of Joy, BMW’s high-performance control unit managing drivetrain, braking, and energy recuperation with unprecedented speed and precision. Combined with BMW Symbiotic Drive, this allows seamless integration of driver inputs with AI, enhancing Level 2 driver assistance, automated lane changes, and urban traffic support.

CES visitors can explore the iX3’s AI-powered assistant, in-car entertainment, and next-gen eDrive innovations first-hand, seeing how BMW is redefining mobility, connectivity, and driver enjoyment for the Neue Klasse.
