Something new has landed at Pioneer – the company is finally bringing its PRO Series speakers and subwoofers to the UK, having previously been available only in overseas markets. And these aren’t simply replacement speakers with a slightly bigger magnet and a more optimistic power rating.
Pioneer’s PRO speakers use high-efficiency drivers designed to deliver high output levels without requiring an enormous amount of amplifier power to get there. They’re aimed squarely at serious SPL builds, show cars and anyone who believes that a car stereo should be capable of announcing its arrival several streets before the car itself appears, with mid-range drivers, bullet tweeters and some properly chunky subwoofers in the line-up.

At the smaller end is the TS-M651PRO, a 6.5in mid-bass driver with a lightweight blended-pulp cone, corrugated surround and 94dB sensitivity. It can handle up to 500W, with a 120W nominal rating.
There’s also the TS-M801PRO, an 8in mid-bass driver rated at 200W/700W max, and the range includes a pair of bullet tweeters in the shape of the TS-B351PRO (3.5in, rated 150W/300W max) and TS-B401PRO (4in, rated 300W/600W max).

For subwoofers, the TS-W3010PRO at 12in is rated at 1,500W maximum and 600W nominal input power. Above it sits the TS-W3020PRO, another 12in model capable of handling a frankly silly-sounding 3,500W maximum and 1,800W nominal.
If 12in isn’t enough, there’s the TS-W3820PRO. This 15in monster is also rated at 3,500W maximum and 1,800W nominal, with selectable 1 ohm or 4 ohm impedance. For smaller bass systems, you can look to the 10in TS-M2010PRO, rated 180W nominal and 400W maximum, or the 8in TS-M1610PRO, rated 100W nominal, 300W maximum.

Pioneer has designed the PRO series around efficiency, output and power handling, making it much more suited to dedicated systems where big amplifiers, substantial enclosures and a healthy disregard for subtlety are all part of the plan.
And despite the apparently competition-grade specifications, the UK pricing isn’t as terrifying as you might expect. The TS-M651PRO set is around £130, while the TS-B401PRO can be found for £66. The larger subwoofers range from roughly £199 for the TS-W3010PRO to around £249 for the 15in TS-W3820PRO, although prices and availability will vary as the range rolls out.

So, if you’ve previously looked at the Pioneer PRO Series from overseas and wondered why we couldn’t have the fun stuff here, your wait is almost over.
Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility. And possibly a strongly worded letter from next door.
