Polestar Puts Google Maps Live Lane Guidance Front-and-Centre

Ever found yourself desperately changing lanes at the last minute because you missed an exit? Well, Polestar is about to make that a thing of the past. The Swedish EV brand has become the first manufacturer to integrate Google Maps’ brand-new “live lane guidance” directly into the driver display of its Polestar 4.

The Polestar 4 is the first car with this handy feature

Using one of the car’s forward-facing cameras and Google’s AI brain, the system spots which lane you’re in and – even better – shows which lane you should be in, with visual and audio cues so you’re not scrambling at the last minute.

Polestar’s head of UI/UX, Sid Odedra, says this is exactly part of the company's “driver-centric UX strategy… reducing driver stress and improving safety by making missed exits and last-minute lane changes much less of a worry.”

The feature appears on the crisp 10.2in driver display and is rolling out initially in the US and Sweden, with more markets to follow. So, if you’re lucky enough to get into a Polestar 4 soon, you might just feel like your car’s got your back on the motorway.
