If you’re driving a 40-tonne truck, discovering that the road ahead has a low bridge isn’t really the sort of surprise you want half-way through a delivery.
Snooper reckons its new S9900-Pro Truckmate can help avoid such situations, with a 9in HD touchscreen and routing designed specifically for HGV drivers. It’s part of the same S9900 series that featured in our 2026 Best Head Unit Guide, with a model for motorhomes costing £399. Other vehicles are covered too, with a unit for commercial buses and coaches priced at £499.
The £399 Truckmate version calculates routes using vehicle dimensions, weight and road restrictions, helping drivers avoid low bridges, weight limits and unsuitable roads. It can also account for a vehicle’s Euro emissions standard to avoid low-emission zones and potential charges.
The new screen brings advanced junction views and lane-positioning guidance to the mix, while HERE Maps provides European mapping with free lifetime updates. There’s also a database of more than 1 million points of interest, including truck stops, fuel stations and service areas.
An active magnetic mount with integrated power makes installation and removal straightforward, while Bluetooth provides hands-free calling. The unit can also connect to a reversing camera, automatically displaying the view when reverse gear is engaged.
And because commercial drivers rarely travel in a straight line from A to B, the S9900-Pro supports multi-route planning with up to 16 stops.
Because while a standard car sat nav might get you to the right postcode, it won’t necessarily stop you driving underneath a bridge that’s too low for your truck.
