You know ambient lighting in a car usually means “oh look, a faint light strip and maybe it glows blue”? Well, CUPRA has gone full emotional interior with the Tavascan and it’s absolutely worth your attention.

The all-electric Tavascan SUV coupe offers five (yes, five) distinct lighting modes: Liquid, Pulse, Electrified, Speed, Boreal – plus a Custom mode where you pick your vibe. The lighting stretches across the dashboard, inner doors, footwells and even the cup-holders, creating a ‘floating’ effect that makes the cabin feel properly futuristic.
Colour-psychology expert Karen Haller explains that amber and soft orange light promote relaxation (good for a late-night drive), while cooler wavelengths like blue stimulate alertness (handy for a motorway slog). So, you’re not just driving a car – you’re setting a mood.

And according to CUPRA’s Head of Design, Jorge Diez, “the ambient lighting set-up is one of the key building blocks using light to affect the mood and emotion of the driver.”
It’s cheeky, fun and very 2025. For UK folk, the Tavascan starts from around £47,340 for the base V1 model.
