Garmin Unveils Flagship Fusion Apollo RA800 Marine Head Unit

If you’ve already upgraded your car’s audio system, but still have money burning a hole in your pocket and you’ve bought a boat (we’ve all been there), which you also want to give the same treatment to, Garmin’s latest is definitely worth a look. The new Fusion Apollo MS-RA800 is its flagship marine head unit, and it’s kind of ridiculous – in the best way.

Think: hi-res, lossless audio. Built-in DAB and Wi-Fi streaming. A processor that’s 8x faster than the previous model. Oh, and a full-colour 4.3in touchscreen display that works even in direct sunlight.

There’s also Apple AirPlay support, zone control for different areas of your boat, with a new 4 x 40W internal amplifier that’s 50% more powerful than before. In short, it’s designed to crank crystal-clear audio across the open water.

Retailing for around £859, the Apollo MS-RA800 is plug-and-play compatible with existing Fusion systems and ready to handle pretty much any environment you throw at it.

So, if your idea of a good time is tuning into BBC Radio 6 while moored off the Isle of Wight, this one’s for you.
