YouTube creator ‘My Name Is Adam’ has documented the full build of his latest DIY car audio experiment, transforming an Audi A3 into an actual subwoofer box – with no engine, seats or interior trim, holes cut into the floor, eight Edge Car Audio subwoofers and a huge amount of amplification.
The creator has put together a series of four videos showing the evolution of the build, which quickly escalated from a bonkers idea – even mounting subwoofers in place of the rear windows – to working against the clock to get it ready for the Edge Car Audio stand at the Modified Nationals event at the end of June.
Links to the four videos can be found here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4.

We follow Adam through each stage of the build and its challenges, from stripping out the interior and extensive plywood and fibreglass fabrication for the subwoofer housings, to powering the system without an engine or battery, managing extreme vibration through the chassis and workshop, and transporting the car to the event and getting it into position.
There were also concerns that the experiment could fail completely, with Adam wary of cancellation effects between subwoofer positions or the system not being as loud as intended – something he admits he is not entirely happy with by the end.
As a show spectacle, the car was a clear hit, with showgoers interacting with the build on the Edge stand and even writing messages of praise on the vehicle itself, as seen in the final video:
With strong audience engagement and a YouTube following of nearly 100,000 subscribers, Adam also showcases other car audio experiments online, including fitting speakers to a toy Barbie car and checking out a 33in Ground Zero subwoofer.
In addition to his madcap builds, what stands out is Adam’s presenting skills, infectious enthusiasm, dedication and imagination – so spot him and his Audi on the show circuit this summer if you can.
