For years, connected car technology has promised to make driving less of a hassle. Now BYD and Parkopedia are taking another step towards that goal by bringing in-car parking payments directly to the dashboard.
The two companies have announced a partnership that will see Parkopedia’s parking data and payment platform integrated into BYD’s Android Automotive OS (AAOS) infotainment system across Europe.
The new service, branded ParkPay, is due to arrive in production vehicles in early 2027 and will initially allow drivers to search for parking spaces and pay for them without reaching for their phone.

In the UK, the system will integrate with RingGo, while drivers elsewhere in Europe will benefit from EasyPark compatibility, helping to provide broad coverage across supported locations.
The experience is designed to be largely automatic. When a compatible BYD vehicle detects that it has parked in a supported location, drivers receive an on-screen notification inviting them to start a parking session. The correct parking area is already selected, allowing payment to be completed in just a few taps.
The app will come pre-installed on newer models, including the Denza Z9 GT and BYD Atto 3 Evo, while existing compatible vehicles are expected to receive the feature through over-the-air software updates.
The partnership doesn’t stop at parking, either. Future updates are planned to add EV charging payments, toll payments and even parking reservations, creating a single mobility platform inside the vehicle.

“We are proud to provide BYD with our connected services to ensure that BYD drivers can benefit from seamless in-car experiences,” said Duncan Licence, head of automotive & data at Arrive, Parkopedia’s parent company. “BYD is leading the industry by showing the importance of supporting cutting-edge hardware development with a robust, data-driven in-car driver experience.”
Stella Li, executive vice president of BYD, added: “We’re pleased to partner with Parkopedia to provide streamlined in-car parking payments that will further simplify the user experience for our drivers. Innovation plays a significant role in BYD’s products, and this latest ParkPay service forms part of our next-generation connected-car experience.”
For drivers, it’s another sign that the dashboard is becoming more than just somewhere to control the radio. It also builds on BYD’s growing reputation for in-car technology – even challenging Tesla for infotainment leadership.
