One of the most recognisable names in aftermarket vehicle security is getting a fresh push, with VOXX by Gentex Corporation unveiling a new generation of Viper products at SEMA 2026 in Las Vegas this week.

The 2027 line-up includes a complete family of redesigned remote controls, new analogue and digital security and remote-start systems, and improved smartphone connectivity. It’s a substantial update for a brand that has built its reputation on keeping vehicles secure while giving drivers greater control over their cars.

Chris Libardi, director of vehicle security product operations at VOXX, explains more below:
‍

A New Look for Viper

The refreshed range includes everything from simple one-button, one-way remotes to more sophisticated two-way units with LED and LCD displays. VOXX has also given the transmitters a more consistent appearance, creating a recognisable family look across the product line.

There are two particularly interesting additions. The new LED and LCD two-way remotes offer a quarter-mile communication range on Viper’s DS digital platform for the first time, giving drivers confirmation that their commands have been received, as well as the ability to control their vehicles remotely.

The LCD version also features a USB-C charging point, doing away with the need to keep replacing batteries. The new remotes will be available across a range of security and remote-start packages, including the 3309 security system and the 5209 and 5309V security and remote-start combinations.

The new RF kits are also compatible with VOXX’s DB3 and RSR configurations, extending the options available to installers working with different vehicle platforms.

Smartphone Control Gets Smarter

Remote controls are only part of the story. VOXX has also updated its Viper SmartStart Pro and Directed SmartStart Pro smartphone apps, adding direct Bluetooth control for compatible DS systems.

This means drivers can lock and unlock their vehicles, activate remote start and operate selected auxiliary functions without relying on a mobile network connection. The updates also introduce trip history and route tracking, allowing users to review previous journeys through the app.

For drivers, remote start remains one of the most appealing features. It means being able to start the engine before heading outside, giving the heating or air-conditioning system time to make the cabin more comfortable before setting off.

An Extra Layer of Security from Clifford

Viper isn’t the only security brand getting attention at the VOXX stand. The company is also showing the new Clifford CP24 Driver Passcode Authentication System, which takes a different approach to protecting vehicles against theft.

The system adds an electronic immobiliser, requiring the driver to enter a personalised passcode sequence using the vehicle’s existing controls before it can be driven. This provides another layer of protection even if a thief has managed to obtain the vehicle’s key.

Powered by VOXX’s CAN-Phantom technology, the CP24 is designed to guard against threats including key cloning, relay theft and unauthorised vehicle use. It uses the vehicle’s CAN-Bus network to prevent the engine from being started without the correct authorisation, and is compatible with 12V and 24V vehicles.

More Than Just Vehicle Security

The VOXX stand also offers a preview of the company’s wider automotive technology offering, including its VOXX eKey digital key-sharing system, which is scheduled to begin shipping in December 2026.

The system is designed to make it easier for vehicle owners to share access with other drivers, adding another connected feature to the company’s growing range of security and convenience products.

VOXX is exhibiting at SEMA 2026 under the theme ‘Built for Real Life’, with products spanning vehicle security, driver assistance, entertainment and commercial fleet technology. In the UK, VOXX products are available through Car Audio Security.
